After the critique session about the image cluster with JB, I decided to talk to more people. I went out to Prospect Park and asked people to talk with me. In a quick summary, I couldn’t have a single decent talk with anyone for two hours. I met some people who were willing to talk, but they were only interested in talking about their stories.

The failure came from what I have. I could tell them that I am an MFA design student and want a quick chat/interview. However, I have no specific topic/subject yet, so engaging people to have decent communication was hard.

The failure at Prospect park leads me to talk to someone who knows me. I reached out to my friends who know me but who don’t know well about Interaction design.

Edmund Lee is my current roommate, and he is a branding designer at Klick. I brought him to Juniors, a famous, beloved dinner in downtown Brooklyn.

We started talking about the article about the generation gap using computers which I read that morning. Then, we moved on to the Internet and Computer topics. As soon as we moved on to the new topic, I talked about his computer screen. His Mac book pro desktop usually has 500 to 1000 files stacked each other. Then an idea passed through me.

Our storage system and the technology related to the Internet and computer science have never stopped developing for several decades. However, how we store data/file have stayed same for a long time. People who are not good at sorting their files will not be able to utilize those cutting-edge file storage technologies and systems.

The potential for a new file/data storage design/system clearly exists. To learn more about the potential, I will deep dive into the related products on the market and how people think and interact with them.
